Question about Battery Cables for MKV Jetta 2.5L

I'm having corrosion problems with the positive battery cable. My question is are they fairly easy to replace? I can use any 4 gauge or 2 gauge wire right? The dealer actually found the problem when I was in getting my cat replaced under warranty. They quoted me ~$500 to change the cables! I just sa...

correct me if I'm wrong, don't mean to sound like a downer either but I thought some medical insurances won't cover you if you suffer injuries from a car accident and that's why a portion of your vehicle insurance premium is for medical coverage in case of an accident. I dunno though, maybe I'm mixe...

got a cardio scala 500, got it long before the new laws came about and has worked well since. It's cheap so you get what you pay for, sound clarity is ok to poor depending on charge but I honestly didn't expect much for $30 bucks. It pairs pretty easily though.

How To: Eliminate Blind Spots...

Sup guys, I know this might seem like common knowledge to some but I'm sure there are some who may not know how to do it. (This how-to was not created by me, I found reference to it on the tex, anything that happens to you due to using this mirror setup is your own bad :) ) Check the link to see a d...

cel P0420, MKV Jetta 2.5L, please advise

I'm just not having any luck with either dub. I'm in the process of getting my MKIV issues fixed and now my wifes MKV has a cel, P0420. the car is at 57000, just recently changed out the air filter and plugs, all factory parts, after getting the cel but after only a week the P0420 is back. I know it...

Definately going to check wires for both O2 sensors tonight. I should probably mention what I did to get the car to start, which may or may not have had anything to do with it starting. I've read in a number of threads that a bad fuel pump will get going if you bang the hell out of the access cover ...

hey I just thought of this. Check your O2 sensor wiring on top of the cat. The 02 heaters are powered by the fuel pump relay and those wires like to get melted and short out. ECU damage is possible by backfeeding voltage from the fuel pump relay. Dude thanks for the heads up, I'll get it on a jack ...

Ignition switch? Nah ended up being the relay, hooked lead 30 up to a power supply and the magnet wouldn't activate to close the switch so no power readings from lead 87. The only lead I could read power from on the relay was the TK lead which is for the door switch, which explains why interior lig...

ALRIGHT! She fired up! I made a tester like the bently said and tried to run the pump by removing fuse 28 and putting a jumper wire connected directly to the battery to see if the pump would run...in short she ran, took a ride around the block and down the street with no cels or stuttering. I've rep...

god damn it! I hate electrical! Alright, so I guess my next question is would having a bad battery prevent the car from cranking or affect any of the electronics (lights, radio, interior lights, dash) from working. Everything seems to have full power. I think I'm gonna spend all day on this thing......

thanks for chiming in man. I don't have a cel, scanned it with my OBD2 scanner and nothing, no cel before or after I started having the problem. Tonight I used a multimeter to check the battery voltage and it's putting out a healthy 12V, checked some of the fuses in the fuse box and some are reading...

as rich said, would sound like immobolizer to me too.... now that you mention the fuel pump not priming though, that's would not be part of the immobo function. So what should I be looking at??? I've never had to check anything to do with the immobilizer so not sure where to start...mechanically en...

i woulda just left it there an said fix it  I woulda...if I was under warranty...and if I had money last night all I checked so far were the fuses 28(fuel pump) and 32(injectors) they look fine, no visible breaks. I'm hoping it's the relay because that would be the next least expensive thing ...

I normally wouldn't make a post this urgent but ironically enough I'm stuck in sunnyvale volkswagens parking lot, came here for some parts went to my car to leave. Started the car then it died, slowly, like it was fuel starvation or something. It didn't just crank on then die right away it sputtered...
