Lime Rock, CT JettaTDI cup

Postby Turtle-Dude » Sun Sep 07, 2008 11:08 am

I'd like to congratulate Caleb Kenney for his latest top 5 finish at the 1.5 mile Lime Rock track. Where does this put you in points? You've been really consistent. How is the Jetta TDI, is it raced different relative to a gasoline car due to the torque? Give us a few minutes! :thumb: :allhail:

Also want to wish you good luck in Iowa on the 20th, hopefully we'll chat again before Road Atlanta.

Thanks Turtle!

The Lime Rock track was awesome. We were the second major series to visit the track since it had been re-paved earlier this year. The track is in the beautiful North West side of Conn. and offered great weather over the weekend.

I felt really confident going into the weekend and everything went smooth. Practice and qualifying went well. Starting 6th, I dropped back to 7th on the start but drove well and raced to 4th. In a late race full course caution, I was just behind the three lead cars but when we went back racing, I didn't have enough for the podium.

The 4th place finish puts me 6th in the drivers standings with the top 7 all deep in the championship flight.

The TDI's are really fun to drive. They aren't any different then racing a gasoline powered car. VW did a great job at making them balanced and handle really well. They have monster stopping power and tons of torque. The Jetta uses super sticky Michelin's which have WAY too much grip and allows some awesome racing.

Iowa should prove to be fun and right after we head to New Jersey for two races, then to Road Atlanta, all in the span of three weeks.

If any of you have Facebook, you guys can become a fan and get all the updates from the next four races.
