New near Modesto

Postby 88vwjetta » Mon Aug 10, 2009 12:25 am

Hey guys, I live in Ripon and I just picked up my second car, a '88 jetta 1.8L. All stock but once I start working again I'd like to make it a good little cruiser. My other car is a Chevy Nova, I drag raced in Oregon. (Just moved down and going to Modesto J.C.) 13MPG and smog just doesn't cut it here!

Anyway, the car is torn apart right now, doing a new radiator and 6000k HID's then she'll be back on the road! Plans are shocks, struts, lowering springs, rims...etc. blahblahblah the usual! So if anyone is near Modesto, hit me up! I'd like to know about local get togethers or anything like that. I'd love to get involved!

P.S. I'm using a computer with dial-up so I will post pics when I'm on another computer. :thumb:

I'd like to say welcome to CA also, but I wouldn't mean it ;) I'm from Oregon too and can't wait to get back home. No offense to all the Cali's here, you all know how I feel... Where you from in OR, I'm from right outside of Portland, Gresham to be exact. There's a few guys on here right around Modesto, I'm sure you'll see them around, from what I hear its a pretty small(podunk) town

I'm from Hubbard which is right along 99e just north of woodburn. Dragstrip was only a few miles away so it made racing easy :baller:

I love my cars too much to see em get rained on all the time. I am keeping Oregon registration on my Nova to get past smog here. Hubbard has no smog at all.

Those looks sweeeet. Match my other car kinda. Put some lower pro. tires and it'd look good for sure. I want to smoke all my lights  I was lookin through tire rack due to boredom and saw some wheels that looked good, more of a meshy style, powdercoated black with a polished lip. i'll try to find them again.

Just got done putting in a new radiator, got the hook up's at a car shop so I got my rad. for dealer price. $97 I believe. :wiggle:

I love the rain, and imo, its better on the paint than 90-100° sun on it all year round
Be careful with that, CA is pretty strict on out of state plates/reg. Insurance might get you too...

My nova is registered in mine and my fathers name for insurance purposes (i'm only 18) and my parents will pay for that car to be insured while I go to school. So it basically just looks like my Nova is "visiting" Cali. hehehe and I have an oregon license right now.

These were the wheels i was looking at. More of a sporty, touring style?

Ben, how can you even suggest putting 17s on a MK2? Shame on you. :funny:

Near turlock right? i'm just learning the area, anyone meet up or cruise together or anything?

those old BBS wheels look sick. the meshy ones look good. i just want to get something other than the stockers.

I think 17's are a good size for a larger style rim. not too baller!
