Exhausts

Postby Projekt GLi » Wed Nov 01, 2006 7:08 pm

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice sounding exhaust, that isn't annoyingly loud in the cabin, and that sounds good, for a 04 GLI VR6...all input is appreciated thanks.

Techtonics Tuning rocks for their exhausts. Very well known for a very long time. They do the R&D not just slap a bunch of pipe together. I have the 2.5" with Borla and it sounds awesome :thumb:

+1 vote for the TT gear.

I've got there stuff running from head to tail. Cat back has just over 200,000 miles in 10 years, dual downpipe has ~160,000 in ~8 years. I only got the 'cheapie' aluminized goodies, not stainless, so let that be a testament to their material quality matching their engineering.

I have a TT 2.25" exhaust with a Borla muffler. It will be loud, but will sound good. I have a 8V 2.0L and I love it. Luckily for you on the GLI you have the cut out's for the pipes to stick out the back. I had to do it to mine. But I suggest a 2.5" and with a and maybe a quieter muffler. Tomas Sport Tuning loves TT exhausts and how they sound so you may want to go over there and talk to them on the best muffler for you. But be forewarned they are use to loud pipes. I love loud but not in the cab of the car. :thumb:

if you keep the resonator on, you can barely hear it at high RPMs. below 2500-3000 its pretty loud, though. but sounds very good. :thumb:
btw, what does TT sound like on the MKII 2.0? just slammed the jetta, now gotta get exhaust :baller:
i'll update pics when i get home in the morning, can't access photobucket from work... :thumbsdow

The TT is louder at lower rpm and mid range. When the car is screaming it is quieter. But it is a loud exhaust. I love it, well most of the time.

TT is def. loud between 2000-3000 rpm....Which on my A3 Gti means that cruising on the freeway at about 65-70 produces a god awful drone. Driving faster fixes that, though. :) I may have to try the Jetex, If only to kill the noise. I really don't want to attract the attention of the CHP.

Last year there was a issue of EuroTuner that had a exhaust shoot out in the 12V VR6. the Jetex came out on top. only problem is they didnt offer a exhaust for the GLI and GLX Jetta with the cut outs :( this was last year and havent checked since. but if they do I will get one for my wifes 04 GLI.

That's how I wanted my TT to be louder on the higher RMP's but I got use to it. Hey can't complain got it used for $150 or so. But I wanted the Neuspeed but it was like $500. It all depends how loud you can tolerate. I added the rear cut out to my car and that helped big time. Also I let my buddy drive my car tonight and I followed him. From the outside my car sounded great. But from the outside I wish it were louder!!!!

Can't go wrong with tt.... However I'm runing the Eurosport Dual Outlet system with stainless DTM dual tips... The system is a full cat back system, great fit and finish sounds great and is something you can live with daily... Gut luck with your choice... Check out supersprint as well, I had their full cat back system on my 91 BMW 318is... Fit and finish is A+......

Anyone know where I can hear a sound clip of a TT/Borla on at 24v VR6? Like, have you ever stumbled on one online?
