What would you do...

Postby BDF02M » Mon May 07, 2007 7:47 pm

...if you had a totally stock 24V VR6, and you (finally) wanted to start planning for some go-fast goodies?

Where's a good place to start? Intake? Mounts? Exhaust? Suspension? GIAC? Something else?
huge aluminum wing?

I'm hoping to get at least one of these in the near future, and more once I start making some money.

Suggestions? brands you like/should stay away from? What would you go for?

Personally I'd go with suspension work.

Power is sad if you can't control it. However, considering you're not driving a track car it may not be neccesary. In that case stick to the basics for now. Intake and exhaust, or anything bolt on.

If you are considering turbo in the future, then be sure to pay atttention to what you buy now, and make sure it compliments your fututre plans!

Im keeping my mouth shut. Unlike the other two trouble makers. And i feel like being helpful. So i would honestly do suspension, exhaust and lighter rims first. then dive into the engine and 'hop it up'. Thats what my plan is for the Golf when I get it. Coils, High Performance Exhaust and some new rims.

dont waste your money, all you need is an aluminum wing, an ebay muffler and tons and tons of stickers... oh wait I forgot im not talking to honda owners anymore, haha you guys are actually intelligent decent humans..

ok sorry for the sarcasm none of you know me yet so you dont know my personality, sorry if i came off as an ass

...ANYWAY on a more serious note, like someone mentioned before start with the bolt ones, even if you wanted to do something more serious like GIAC, in order for full benefits it still needs to be supported by intake, exhaust yada yada, start there then see if you get addicted or not...

Well you would be the fourth one on here that has a sarcastic attitude. Be warned (Nick)Oh Snap will thread jack you(and say something to get me started and then we go at it) and Anthony(k9jetta) will babble and post unneeded pictures. Basically we are the three big jokers. And we are proud of it. 99% of what we say is to be taken as a joke. With Nick and Anthony its pretty much obvious when they are joking but with me if there are smilies Im playing around.

Anyways... :thumb:

Wait a tick... How'd you get talked into suspension stuff? I thought you were looking for go fast mods that would liven up the engine bay?

With $200, the best you could do would be some decent springs, and I'm pretty sure GLIs have sport springs already, so that'd be a waste. If you're going suspension, save up for coils :thumb:

In that case, intake! Suspension IS pricey. But well worth it, I think. Exhaust would sound sexy on the VR too, but then that gets pricey too!
