Postby 00TURBO » Mon Mar 31, 2008 1:01 pm

so i noticed the other day that i havent been hearing the normal "whoosh" sound from my 1.8t. took it to the shop, no leaks. could this be the DV? should i get a new diverter valve or maybe upgrade it? im stuck...

your diverter may be stuck in the closed position. Since your car is a 2000 and you have never replaced it you may want to replace it anyway. Just order one... i dont think you will find one for a good price locally. http://www.parts4vws.com is in california and they only take a day or 2 to ship.

why don't you listen for compressor surge. also if you dont have a boost gauge get one then read the gauge. i wouldn't go out and start throwing money at my car just cause i didnt hear he "whoosh" sound. stock dv really isnt that loud anyways.

thats a easy fix. when you drive your car and you change gears, just say to yourself or out loud. " WHOOSH "

I replaced mine with a 1.8T Audi TT DV, worked like a charm...it still isnt very loud though, so if a little sound is what you're looking for you'll need a forge dv and cold air intake
"Yea, though I drive in the Valley of the Shadow of the V8, I shall fear no V8 for the Inline 4 is with me. Thy 1.8 liters and thy K04 comfort me. Thou shall prepare boost at my call against the V8 that troubles me. Thou annointest my Inline 4 with Mobil One Oil, and my psi shall runneth over. Thy loving smoothness and torqueness shall follow me all the days of my
driving and I will dwell in the house of the Inline 4 Turbo forever!!!!!!"
