Advice on Chipping.

Postby functionisform » Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:17 am

I have a 00 vr6 Dont plan to do anything too horsepower crazy I have basic bolts ons. 2.5 Exshaust setup. And a Cold air intake. I have narrowed my choice down to:

GIAC.

Unitronic.

Anyone know good dealers around? or which brand would be better?

Sureguy wrote:Honestly NA chips don't make that much difference. It doesn't really matter who you go with but I have a GIAC chip in my MK3 VR and it's nice. Just peppier.

Nice. Last question. How much should i look to be paying.

Oh you have a vr6 :thumb: Thought it was a 1.8T.... But never the less it opens things up a bit. Basically intake/exhaust/chip will be nice unless you want more and go FI which is kinda expensive on us VRs

I have a GIAC chip in it's protective case for a 2000 VR6. It would need to go to DynoSpotRacing because of their multi-point solder station, to be installed, $50 or $75 IIRC. I believe they put a socket in so the stock chip can go back in.

We'd need to confirm your ecu code with VAG-COM to make sure the letter is correct for it to work properly. I THINK mine is an "M" but I'm just pullin' that outta my ass until I get home to check it.

I'd make you a screamin' deal on it. :thumb:
