1.8 8v?

It's probably done for compatibility. The 2.0 ABA block is desirable, put on the flavor of head the car originally came with and voila, other than an extended exhaust it bolts right in. BTW, always purchase/use head bolts based on the head, not the block: the lengths are determined by the head casting.

motorwerks wrote:Its an Easy way to find a 2.0 that bolts in where there used to be a 1.8. You can still find low-er mileage ABA's around CHEAP. There is also a rumor floating around that it also bumps up the compression a little too. Ill tell you what mine ran like a Rapped ape.

im planning on buying used block with lower miles, andhopefully build it up
so not much of a difference in performance then?

Sounds to me like what you're talking about is what 16v guys do to 2.0 16v's. Using the stock 1.8 head flows better, but you can get more out of a 2.0 if you port it. Don't know why you would put a 1.8 head on an 8v when the crossflow head is supposed to flow better

i saw something about 1.8 8v head.
and not build a motor and put a 1.9 head on. build a new motor and still use my 2.0 head.

motorwerks wrote:It will NOT work with your MKIII, if I am reading right. You are talking about putting a 1.8 head on your ABA? ABA is cross flow, 1.8 is not. I have heard of 16v on an ABA swaps but it would require a total rebuild if you wanted to run that because it requires new pistons and honestly it doesn't really matter which 16v head you would run, it would take a TON of BBM parts to make it all work.

:eyes: and then what if you put a turbo ontop of that. o shiet that would be hot ;)
