Putting R32 rear bumper on GTI...bumper reinforcement question

Postby jtarrod » Mon Mar 16, 2009 5:51 pm

Hey All,

I'm putting MKIV R32 rear bumper on my 2002 GTI and I had to remove the reinforcement for it to fit properly.

I want to put another reinforcement on the car. I'm assuming the stock R32 reinforcement will work. I'm wondering though if I can just replace the shocks or if I have to replace the shocks as well as the reinforcement.

Anyone know?

IIRC, the .:R32 rear rebar has integral mounts vs. the bumper shocks. I believe they're designed to crumple instead of push in.

Do you know if the R32 integral mounts fit up to the stock GTI bumper bar? I'm assuming that the integral mounts let that bar fit up closer to the body to fit the R32 bumper cover.
